Russell Corrosion Consultants Lands Houston Utility Project

(Columbia, MD) Russell Corrosion Consultants, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of EN Engineering, recently landed their largest water project to date – a corrosion control project for the City of Houston Water and Wastewater Group. “This is a very exciting project for us,” stated Rick Grant, Principal, Russell Corrosion Consultants. “The scope of the project includes maintenance of the current system, design of new systems, and analysis on lines that fail. It’s a 5-year project involving all of the large diameter water mains, facilities, and waste water systems throughout the city.”

Currently, four Russell Corrosion technicians and a government-required minority subcontractor team of 2 are working on the project full time. During the initial months, they began locating and assessing the current corrosion control systems. “Houston is the third largest city in the country, so there were hundreds and hundreds of systems for us to find and assess,” added Grant. “We will continue locating and assessing lines over the next few months.”

The assessment process includes identifying and visiting all the pipelines and facilities around the city. After identifying and assessing the locations, the team will review all the main water lines within the city. As part of the project, the team will monitor 125 test stations and conduct 80 continuity tests a month, monitor 218 rectifiers quarterly, and perform maintenance on all of these systems.
