Hardik Parikh is a senior consultant with EN’s electrical consulting group. He is a licensed professional engineer (PE) and certified project management professional (PMP) specializing in renewable energy project design, analytical studies, and owner’s engineering services.
Hardik’s interest in renewables dates back to high school, and his involvement in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) study track. He wanted to do something a bit different and decided to be part of the renewable energy movement–to do something better for the next generation.
Hardik holds a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. He started his career with medium voltage engineering and gradually transitioned towards renewable project design. He actively works on various power system software packages to develop study models, calculations, and evaluations of renewable energy projects to solve challenges associated with design and engineering.
Hardik joined EN in 2021 to take on a leadership role and become involved in a wider array of projects. He became more involved with independent service providers, utilities, and developers. As a part of those applications, he does a lot of modeling and studies for independent system operators. Often those projects are interconnected with the bulk operating system or the US grid.
Hardik is an avid reader and spends some of his spare time reading to keep up with different industries and new developments, especially the research and development on the renewable energy front. On a more leisurely note, he also enjoys traveling with his wife, Charmy, and they recently returned from a trip to Europe.
He often finds himself working with developers from different parts of the world with financial and commercial backgrounds. “Sometimes they don’t quite understand the electrical concepts,” Hardik said. He added, “It’s a fun and satisfying experience to educate and help them navigate through the technicalities of the process and bring the projects online because that’s the end goal.”
Hardik participates in local and national conferences, user group meetings, and workshops to keep up with new emerging technologies. He works closely with clients to ensure projects are compliant with industry standards and meet the interconnection requirements. He has led several solar and wind projects from the planning phase to the design, engineering, and procurement phases. Part of that is the electromagnetic transient (EMT) work he does with his team, developing models and studies. You can learn more about this work here.
